		<description>How are you attaching the handle to the mallet? 

When I was in middle school shop class, we used to drill the hole all the way through the head, then use a wedge in the top to hold the handle in place. Since then I've learned that you can also do that without drilling all the way through the head so long as your wedge fits really precisely. I may try my hand at a mallet soon to test this theory but also wonder how you're joining the piece.
