The Flat Car was inspired by a fictitious movie scene. A super-spy/cat-burglar type needs to get information from behind a locked room. The character slides the car under the door, the car pops up, and drives away to gather the info.

I don't want the Flat Car to be used for nefarious purposes, it’s just something that got stuck in my head, so I made it.

The body is made of milled FR-1 boards (printed circuit board material), and acts as the primary circuit board for all of the car's electronics.
