Stained Glass Marbles

Proof of concept to see if traditional stained glass window techniques can be applied to marbles. The plan is to use marbles of various size to create a shade or globe for a lamp. yes, another attempt at a lampshade.

The Perfect Lamp Shade

I have been on the hunt for the perfect lamp shade. I’ve tried making them (here and here). I’ve tried buying them (very expensive). I’ve even tried not using them (here and here). But no luck, until now.

I think I’ve finally found it, just a simple plain little drum shade. And it’s not too pricey either. If anyone out there has one of my lamps, I would try using this shade.

Last time I was at my parent’s house, I “liberated” a few logs from the neighbors firewood pile. Freshly cut maple logs, perfect for some thin-walled turnings. I turned a test piece for a lamp shade. Well, it only became a test piece after the wood cracked.

I drilled the through hole and oiled it up Friday morning.
