Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

I saw these great turned door handles by Valentín Garal on Mocoloco. I might have to make a bunch of these.

Sensual Wood Turnings

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Siegfried Schreiber is an incredible wood turner. He makes some beautiful shapes that he calls sensual, and I couldn’t agree more.

Wooden Tops

After seeing Inception, I had to make my own totem. Two turned wooden tops (one oak, one ???), finished with tung oil and wax.

Robot sculptures by Gordon Bennette. They are in a store window on 5th Ave at 16th St. Totally worth checking out if you’re in the neighborhood.

Turned Toys

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Came across these two great turned toys (thank you minor details). I love how simple they are and yet are pretty expressive. All of the artists are from Argentina, must be something great in the water there. I might have to rip these off.

Habitat Inspiration

Monday, September 29th, 2008

I love the Habitat articles in the Real Estate section of the New York Times. This Sunday had a cool article about an artist’s live/work space.

I'm going to have to try this

But what I really liked is the way he framed the piece on this wall. Using different sized frames, of the same design, to continue the tree branch drawing (at least I think it’s a drawing). What a great look, I’m going to have to rip this off.
