Laser cut acrylic parts assembled around a geared DC motor.
Laser cut acrylic parts assembled around a geared DC motor.
I CNC’d some acrylic on the 4 axis into lens like shapes. After a polish on the buffing wheel, they actually worked.
I’m teaching a new class this semester called Reinventing the Wheel, a design and engineering studio based around the wheel. So there will be a lot of round, rolling experiments in my future.
I got my hands on some more bourbon wood, so I turned a couple of blanks. This stock is a bit thicker, so I went a little taller (original lamp is about 2″ tall, the latest are about 2.5″). Not sure yet if I like it taller.
