I’m excited to use these key switches in some robots. Only the key master can activate the bot.

Just got a little vacuum former, typically used by dentists and orthodontists. It kind of looks like an espresso maker, but it does a really nice job. Love new tools.

A quick experiment. I turned some aluminum on the metal lathe, then powder coated it orange, then turned just some of it again. The edges look really crisp.

Amazing how if you literally put something up on a pedestal, it makes that something a little more special.

Been working on a ridiculously involved internal structure for a robot toy. CNC’d aluminum, custom circuit board, off the shelf hardware — all to be covered up by some tin cans.
As I mentioned before, I’m proud of the 9 Volt battery holder solution. And yes, those are Knight Rider eyes.

I mentioned before that a slip ring and a caster swivel make for a great robot neck. Here is a video with more details. Thanks Jeff.

I have yet to find a decent 9 Volt battery holder. So I’ve just designed it into the internal structure of my latest robot.

A bunch of CNC’d aluminum plates held together by standoffs. The battery sits in a cutout and a set screw holds it in place from the bottom. More to come.

A nice story about the Othermill, ITP, and some projects we’ve been working on at the Other Machine Co. site.
