MoMA Design Store Presents Destination NYC

I’m incredibly excited, Mobile Homes has been selected for inclusion in MoMA Design Store’s Destination: NYC Collection.

MoMA Design Store launches the eleventh event in the Destination: Design series, Destination: NYC – Made in the USA. The collection features approximately 200 lifestyle products by New York designers including home accessories, furniture, paper goods and jewelry. All products are designed in one of the five boroughs of New York City and manufactured in the United States. Muted colors, graffiti art and pop culture iconography are a few elements of New York’s culture that will be celebrated in the product collection.

Cool Hunting mention

It is always a great surprise when you visit one of your favorite design blogs (one of my daily reads) and see your own work starring back at you. Cool Hunting, one of the first and one of the best, did a great round up of lighting they were digging at Design Week.

I’m honored to have the Bourbon Jar Lamps mentioned among these amazing designs:

- Esque and No.1 Son’s Afloat lamp

- Bocci’s 28 Series

- Matt Gagnon Prototype Lamps, I saw these guys while they were doing the live demo. Great lamps, nice guys.

- Lindsey Adelman Studio’s Burst, saw this one as well. Amazing work and Lindsey was very interesting and welcoming.

- Rich Brilliant Willing’s Delta IV

- UM Project’s L.U.M. Lamp

- Deger Cengiz’s Wooden LED Light

B.Light Design at Use Me

Kyle and company did a great job of setting up the Use Me show. I’m incredibly happy with how the Secret Passageway Switch looked up on the brick.

If you pulled back on Great Expecatations you turned on the light.

AmDC presents USE ME

The Noho Design District was the place to be this year for Design Week. Tons of great shows within a few blocks of each other, about a dozen in The American Design Building at 45 Great Jones alone.

McMasterpieces was a very fun exhibit and Lindsey Adelman’s work is so amazing, but I was primarily there for the American Design Club’s Use Me show. I had the extreme pleasure of showing my Secret Passageway Switch among all of the incredible designs.

Model Citizens, the dust is settling

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Design Week is still pretty much a blur, but it was fantastic. The Model Citizens show was fantastic. Not only was the Chelsea Art Museum one of the greatest spaces to show at, but it could hold over 90 amazing designers and artists. One of the best shows I’ve ever been a part of.

The Model C show is also getting a lot of great press:

Thank you Mika, Kris, and Tiffany for making it such a great experience.
