B.Light Design at Use Me

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Kyle and company did a great job of setting up the Use Me show. I’m incredibly happy with how the Secret Passageway Switch looked up on the brick.

If you pulled back on Great Expecatations you turned on the light.

AmDC presents USE ME

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

The Noho Design District was the place to be this year for Design Week. Tons of great shows within a few blocks of each other, about a dozen in The American Design Building at 45 Great Jones alone.

McMasterpieces was a very fun exhibit and Lindsey Adelman’s work is so amazing, but I was primarily there for the American Design Club’s Use Me show. I had the extreme pleasure of showing my Secret Passageway Switch among all of the incredible designs.

Model Citizens, the dust is settling

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Design Week is still pretty much a blur, but it was fantastic. The Model Citizens show was fantastic. Not only was the Chelsea Art Museum one of the greatest spaces to show at, but it could hold over 90 amazing designers and artists. One of the best shows I’ve ever been a part of.

The Model C show is also getting a lot of great press:

Thank you Mika, Kris, and Tiffany for making it such a great experience.

Use Me

Next up for Design Week, Use Me. The American Design Club is holding its 6th show, “an exhibition by 45 young American designers of unapologetically functional objects, each of which exhibits a strong sense of purpose, intelligent use of materials, and the ability to do one thing extremely well.” The list of designers showing is pretty impressive, I’m honored to be among them.

I will be showing the Secret Passageway Switch, and it will be for sale.

Apartment Therapy’s New York Design Meetup

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

Next Wednesday (the 10th) I will be giving a short talk about Lake Log Lamps and my experience with this year’s Apartment Therapy Designer Showcase. AT holds these fantastic monthly Meetups, there are typically two or three short talks (about 5 minutes) by new/student designers and then a headlining established designer. There is wine and cheese and all of that.

The other two opening speakers are designers who were in the Showcase as well, Charles Constantine (Life Goes on Until it Doesn’t) and Jeremy Pickett (Brann Pendant Lights). The main event will be Kevin Sharkey, Senior Vice President and Executive Editorial Director, Decorating, and Executive Creative Director, Merchandising for Martha Stewart Living Omninedia, Inc. (that’s some title).

If you can make it, please come on by.

RSVP on Meetup.
