Mobile Homes in Red

Mobile Homes was accepted into the design show HUE ARE YOU?, curated by the American Design Club. The show opening will be held on Friday March 20th at The Future Perfect in Brooklyn and will run for the following six weeks.

There are so many incredible designers involved, I’m very excited to be a part of this.

What the Font

March 4th, 2009

I recently got my hands on an AC/DC font, and a bunch of people I know are having kids. Figured I’d try out some ideas.

Get Yourself a Mat Cutter

Get yourself a mat cutter Get yourself a mat cutter

One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to change out all of the artwork on my walls. That involves a lot of framing and cutting new mats. A mat makes such a big difference to a picture. And a mat cutter is totally worth it.

Business Cards

Moo Cards

I have a few things coming up this month and figured I needed some new business cards. Moo does a really good job.

Upper West Slide

My friend Cherry Sunshine asked if she could use my Upper East Slide idea for a baby hoodie.

Upper West Slide

I think it turned out great.

DWR Champagne Chair Contest Winners

February 20th, 2009

So I didn’t win the Design Within Reach Champagne Chair Contest, but it was a honor being nominated. Here are the winners:

DWR Champagne Chair

Jesse Menayan’s Kub Armchair won the Judges’ Pick

DWR Champagne Chair

Tony Nemyer’s Grape Divine Chair won the DWR Staff Pick

DWR Champagne Chair Winner

Gavri Slasky’s Spring 2009 won the Popular Vote.

Actually, I voted for the Grape Divine Chair. I really like the base, I wonder if he turned it.

Room and Board

February 6th, 2009

I’m kind of a snob when it comes to furniture. If I didn’t make it, or refinish it, or find it in the garbage, I usually don’t want it. I’m a terrible person, I know. But there comes a time in you life when you need to buy some big boy furniture.

For the second time, I’ve bought a piece of furniture from Room and Board. They are a pretty great company. The furniture is fantastic, the craftsmanship is top notch. Great customer service too. Sorry sounding like a commercial.

Their stuff isn’t cheap, but you get what you pay for.

DWR Champagne Chair Contest Finalist

February 4th, 2009

Design Within Reach Champagne Cork Chair ContestShameless plug.

I’m a finalist in a design contest, the Design Within Reach Champagne Cork Chair contest to be exact.

The goal was to design a small little chair model from nothing but the cork, wire, and wrapper from a bottle of champagne. A little strange I know, but a fun little project.

There will be three winners, the Grand Prize, the Staff Pick, and the Popular Vote. The Popular Vote is where you come in.

Please go here and cast your vote for your favorite chair. Mine is the fifth one down, the “Turned Cork Stool”.

If you like a chair more than mine, just lie to me and say you voted for me.

Also, if you have multiple computers, you can vote multiple times (once at work and once at home).

And feel free to pass this along to anybody, the more the merrier.

If you tell two friends, and then they tell two friends, and… well you see where I’m going with this.

Thanks everybody.
