Check ‘N Chew is a really fun project I’ve been working on with Matt Richardson and Tyler DeAngelo. Basically, when you check into Foursquare you get a gumball.

I’ve learned that an off-the-shelf gumball machines are a bit flaky and gumballs do not come in a standard size, but the project turned out great and working with these guys has been a dream. We even got the machine covered by Engadget.

AFH Table
Image taken by Naho Kubota

A couple of weeks back I worked on a table with C-Lab, Design Compendium, One Pot, Limn Architects, Highlands Dinner Club, and Architecture For Humanity. It was for the Design Like You Give a Damn Live celebration at the Armory on Park Ave in NYC. The goal was to get all of these great thinkers and incredibly capable people to sit down to a meal together, see what could be accomplished in such a short time (the meal and the table), become inspired, and basically change the world for the better. Simple, right?

The project was on a very tight deadline, the table was built in two days. The first day (the one I had a part in) was gathering materials, cutting all of the pieces, redesigning on the fly, and starting to put the thing together. We did all of this at the studio. The second day (I wasn’t there for that) was a lot of finishing work and putting it all together at the Armory.

From the final images I can tell that it came together great (side note: the Armory is awesome). I got to work with some very talented and, more importantly, really great people. I’m very proud to have a small part in this project.

The Drop

So I was hoping I’d be able to show off the Tagged Mobile Homes someday, I just didn’t know it would happen this quickly. The mobile will be showing at The Drop on Oct. 3rd to Oct 17th. It looks like it’s going to be a great time.

Again I want to thank everyone who helped with this one.

I am very excited about this project.

Get the flash player here: http://www.adobe.com/flashplayer

It started with a great idea from Kiel Mead. During the Hue Are You? show he said, “Wouldn’t it have been cool if we got street artists to tag all of the Mobile Homes houses?” Yes it would Kiel, yes it would.

Once I met superk8, things started to happen. Kate was my connection to some great people. She and a bunch of other artists get together for a show called the Conscious Cycle (the video below is actually last year’s Conscious Cycle).

The Conscious Cycle was held on Governors Island in NYC during the Figment festival. I met a bunch of great people there, and everyone was cool with lending me a hand. During their down time from painting the mural, they all decorated my silly little houses. So cool. I think they all turned out great.

The artists involved are:

Royce Bannon
Chris from Robots Will Kill
Veng from Robots Will Kill
Lou Auguste
Vince

Thanks again everybody.

Making Faces

Haven’t done this in awhile, I saw this at Kate and Jon’s place.

Recently I gave a couple of sets of eyes to some kids (I can’t believe I haven’t done that before, stupid I know), it was great to see them play with them. They instantly started attaching them to metal things, to their hair, their clothes, so cool. Definitely one of the more fun things I’ve ever made.

A lathe chisel canvas roll-up carrying case (say that five times). She took an old canvas tote bag and turned it into this.
