My piece, the Boids, will be for sale at the new pop-up store, Design To Go. The store is located in the Port Authority Bus Terminal at the corner of 8th avenue and 40th street (on the north west side). Items in the store relate to travel, souvenir, gift, NYC, Times Square, 8th Avenue, or bus travel . The shop opens on August 17th and will run to September 26th.
The New York Times and Time Out New York wrote about it! Awesome.

Through the years I have purchased/found/been given hardware that I instantly fall in love with. I want to build pieces of furniture around them, yet I never do.
Some day.

I’ve talked about the logs I saved from a lake bottom before, also the bowl I made from one of the logs. While I was at it, I turned a lamp from one of the lake logs.

After decades of being submerged, the wood has become gray and full of character. It also makes identify the species tough, I’m guessing oak with a hint of lake dirt. The lamp doesn’t look too bad sporting the perfect lamp shade.

I was at the Whitney Museum the other day and came across the Art-o-mat in the gift shop. A very cool (and cheap) way of getting your hands on some art.
Art-o-mat machines are retired cigarette vending machines that have been converted to vend art. There are 82 active machines in various locations throughout the country.
I got a cool little wooden sculpture wrapped up like a pack of cigarettes. I love this idea.

I have been on the hunt for the perfect lamp shade. I’ve tried making them (here and here). I’ve tried buying them (very expensive). I’ve even tried not using them (here and here). But no luck, until now.
I think I’ve finally found it, just a simple plain little drum shade. And it’s not too pricey either. If anyone out there has one of my lamps, I would try using this shade.

Is this yet another rubber origami bird mobile? Why yes, yes it is.
A mobile made up of the classic New York City fixture (nuisance), pigeons. The mobile is made up of five (or six haven’t decided yet) birds. The birds come in three fruit flavors: red, yellow, and blue.

My pot rack was mentioned in this morning’s amNewYork. It’s an article about super-sizing small New York kitchens. This is very cool, thanks Lucy.

Now I don’t have kids or an iPhone with a cracked screen, but I have to believe that it makes the perfect kid’s toy.
- The parent doesn’t have to worry about their child breaking it (breaking it any further that is)
- It can become a new toy with ever new app downloaded
- It’s meant for grownups, kids love that

My Moleskine hack is a finalist in the My Moleskine 2.0 Exhibition. If you happen to be in the Hong Kong area, take a look at the exhibit and vote for your favorite design.
It’s kind of sad when your notebook is better traveled than you are.
